Duwamish Alive collaborates with community, municipalities, non-profits and businesses
within the Duwamish River watershed to preserve and enhance habitat

Duwamish River Trash Cleanup / Duwamish Waterway Park

Last October, volunteers in kayaks and small boats collected an estimated 1500 pounds of trash & 500 lbs of metal
(~2000 lbs total) from the Duwamish River surface and shorelines.  During all events, the Soundkeeper patrol boat
and the aluminum skiff from Alki Kayak Tours cruise up and down the river and assist kayakers throughout the cleanup
by transporting large items and full trash bags to shore.

No kayaking experience is necessary as all training, equipment and safety instruction is provided.
Volunteers can team up in the double kayaks provided or bring their own boats.  Canoes and other small watercraft
are welcome.  All materials, including bags, trash grabbers and gloves are provided.
Volunteers on land also work with the Seattle Parks and Recreation to spread mulch,
weed the planting beds, and remove trash from the bushes.
